Salmonella Infection (Salmonellosis)
Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause an infection known as salmonellosis, usually affecting the intestines. It is most commonly spread through contaminated food or water, especially undercooked poultry, eggs, or unwashed produce. Symptoms typically include diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, nausea, and sometimes vomiting, usually appearing within hours to a few days after exposure.
Most cases are mild and resolve within a week, but the illness can be more serious for young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Dehydration is a key concern, making fluids and rest essential for recovery. Practicing good hygiene and safe food handling is important in preventing infection.
The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.” – Psalm 41:3
Lord of healing,
be near to those suffering from illness within the body.
In times of discomfort and weakness,
bring relief to aching stomachs,
calm the distress within,
and restore balance where it has been disrupted.
Protect them from dehydration and further harm,
and give their bodies the strength to recover fully.
Grant patience through each difficult moment
and renewal with each passing day.
May healing come steadily and completely,
and may they soon return to comfort and health. Amen.
