Rabies

Rabies is a rare but extremely serious viral disease that affects the brain and nervous system. It is usually spread through the bite or saliva of an infected animal, most commonly wild animals such as bats, raccoons, foxes, or stray dogs in some parts of the world. Early symptoms may include fever, headache, fatigue, and pain near the bite site, but as the disease progresses it can cause confusion, muscle spasms, difficulty swallowing, and severe neurological problems.

Rabies is considered a medical emergency, but it is highly preventable when treatment begins quickly after exposure. Immediate wound cleaning and post-exposure vaccination are critical in stopping the virus before symptoms begin. Public awareness, animal vaccination, and quick medical care continue to save many lives around the world.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” – Psalm 56:3

Merciful Lord,
in moments of fear and uncertainty,
be a source of calm and protection.

Watch over those who have been exposed to serious illness,
and guide them quickly toward the care they need.
Bless doctors and medical teams with wisdom and urgency
as they work to prevent suffering and save lives.

For those waiting anxiously through treatment,
bring peace to troubled hearts
and strength to weary bodies.
Protect the vulnerable,
guard communities from harm,
and surround all who are afraid with Your comforting presence.

Lord, let healing overcome fear,
and let hope remain stronger than uncertainty. Amen.
